Photographer-You google it, you would get-‘a person who clicks photograph’. That’s it? No other catch? Definitely there’s more. A photographer stills every moment of life, when a picture speaks for itself, that’s when a photographer is believed to be 10/10. The process of making a photograph just as lively as the moment is every photographers thought.

If one’s to point out THE ESSENTIALs for a photographer, what would be listed? Equipment’s? Shoot studio? Objects-subject? But above all. A THOUGHT, a creative thought process is the essential. Thus we may put it forward by defining the photographer as visual thought presenter.

What skills does one need to be a photographer?

Mix of artistic thoughts, technical handling, and interpersonal skills are said to be the requirement.

    • Artistic thoughts-

3C’s i.e. COMPOSITION-CREATIVITY-COLOR THEORY are every artists approach. A clear understanding of Rule of Thirds, line balancing etc brings out a visually appealing picture. Adding to this, experiment with different perspectives & angles make the shot look out of the box. Finally appropriate colour theory when followed, picture perfect photograph is created.·

    • Technical handling-

Whenever technical word would arise in context to photography one would be expected to have the knowledge of the fundamentals of ASI i.e. APERTURE, SHUTTER, ISO. Apart from this, knowing functions of provided buttons on one’s camera body are necessary too.·

    • Interpersonal skills-

Whenever we talk about skills, communication tops the list. Following which, attention to details of subject being captured, working under pressure, serving as asked i.e. capturing right angle at right moment is included too.

Is every human born with perfection and knowledge of different leanings? No.

How does one experiment and improve?

-Pick your camera, question about each sign over the body & find answer to it. Explore your equipment thoroughly.

-A day is filled with moments, make sure to at least shoot a few every day.

-Try to experiment with different set of lighting like, studio, daylight, under the stars etc

-Play with different angles while taking a shot; close, long, wide

-Bring in new equipment like a tripod, gimbal etc to upscale your captures and enhance shooting style.

-Get your hands on different editing tools like photoshop, lightroom etc to dive into the current trends of image edits.

also,

-Ask for feedback; since everyone has a different thought process, image judgment and liking would differ to. This would allow in appreciation along with room for improvement.

What are different types of photography genres?

There’s a wide variety with different styles for different requirements:

-NATURE & LANDSCAPE photography; Camera’s filled with beauty of nature around one. Mountains, oceans, skies, said to be the most the wide and vast frame.

-STREET photography; environment portraits, monuments and flora fauna

-BIRD photography; demands patience and stability

-SILHOUETTE photography; concerned with outlining a subject against background

-ABSTRACT photography; focus on shapes, lines and textures not on subjects

-PORTRAIT photography; picture must deliver a story of its own through expressions of the subject

-MINIMALIST photography; simplicity is the key

-PANNING photography; why fit in a frame, extend it

What are different equipment required?

It’s said your eyes are the lenses which are to be used first when a moment happens and your brain to be the memory card. But if I got blur vision, how would I set the focus?

To kill the sarcasm here’s the list of equipment to be used when photographing-

-A high quality camera which would include DSLR and mirrorless

-Prime, telephoto, zoom, and macro lenses depending on the camera and the requirement of the genre

-Reflectors to manipulate natural light

-Soft box essentially for portraits & products

-Gimbals for ensuring smooth capturing of actions

-Tripods for long exposures, timelapses, sports

-Memory cards for storage of captures

-Few basic backdrops and props

most basic of all,

A CAMERA BAG to store and keep safe all the equipment.

As per an individual’s pocket allowance and interest area one might pick few from above listed items as what stays most important is the THOUGHT PROCESS with what one captures
